The Superbowl: I'm Not Watching Today

For the first time in my life, the Superbowl won't be in my agenda on this Sunday of All Sundays.Sorry, 99.8% of Earth.I've never been an overly huge football fan. Baseball, yes. Gosh yes. But football? To me, football encapsulates many wrongs within our culture: glorified obesity and praised masculine carnage. Like, whatever. Give me a bag of peanuts and crackerjack and take me out to the ballgame any day.Still, I've watched the Superbowl each of the last 25 years. Yes, even as a helpless babe, I'm sure. Even last year on a phone dangling from my rear view mirror while driving down the Pacific coast from Seattle to Los Angeles.Seriously, this happened?Portable SuperbowlTruthfully, I'm kinda over it. Over the hype. At least this year. So, what will I be doing today instead? First, some morning tutoring. Then, some Panera Sunday writing, of course. I've got this blog to run and a book to publish, after all. More info on the latter and my long-awaited newsletter, coming tomorrow! Finally, I'll go to church tonight and worship the God who keeps giving me breaths to breathe despite my frequent falls and constant questioning of His plan for my life. My story.Plus, I have no idea what time the Superbowl even comes on today. 3? 6? 9?Even after three years, I still struggle to figure out TV airing times on the west coast, of live events or otherwise.I'm hopeless. So, let me know who wins the big game today. And more importantly, what the best commercial is, and whether it involves a talking animal or G-list celebrity. Are you joining me today in not watching the Superbowl? Or are you siding with 99.8% of Earth? If it's the latter, who you got: ugly birds or greedy gold-miners?
