One year ago, I turned 25. A quarter-century. The halfway mark between 20 and…30. One year ago today, I was baptized.
It was one of those ethereal moments that fully convinced my belief in a God. Those kinds of moments just don’t happen. Nobody gets baptized on a Tuesday night in a water park surrounded by church friends and roommates and a former supervisor and two beloved parents — and on his 25th birthday, no less.
After I was dunked and everyone hugged my sopping wet frame, I couldn’t imagine having a more perfect birthday — surrounded by precious people celebrating my birth and affirming my worth.
I had no idea what the next year would bring.
In the last six months, I’ve been slaving over a book that I first felt called to write four years ago at a conference in Chicago. I always knew it’d happen someday, but someday is such a broad generic loosey-goosey word.
It’s one thing to want to go skydiving someday; it’s another to be strapped to a man in orange and leaning over an open hatch 10,000 feet up.
After six long months, I actually put the finishing touches on Struggle Central late last night. I have to say, hitting the final word made me exhale the deepest breath of my life.
I did it. It’s done.
Today, I’m sending out a newsletter with a free link to a PDF of my book. I’ll be continuing to distribute free copies until my book is listed on Amazon and other online retailers soon. If you’ve not registered yet, take 10 seconds to join my team right here! I’d be so grateful to have you on board.
Today is special. I may not be getting dunked in freezing cold water with an abandoned pirate ship to my right, but it’s a special feeling nonetheless.
Struggle Central: Quarter-Life Confessions of a Messed Up Christian. It’s officially a real thing now.
I consider myself so blessed to know you all and share in this pivotal moment, together.
And just for old time’s sake…
